  • [01] Mozambique supports Cyprus solution based on principles

    Mozambique will continue to support a solution of the Cyprus problem based on the principles of international law, President of Mozambique Armando Emilio Guebuza assured, receiving the credentials of Petros Nakouzis, Cyprus' High Commissioner to South Africa.

    I n a short meeting with Guebuza, Nakouzis referred to the latest developments in the Cyprus problem and thanked him for the steadfast support of Mozambique to the struggle of the people of Cyprus for the reunification of the island, divided since 1974, when Turkey invaded and occupied its northern third.

    [02] Developments in Cyprus' EEZ present great opportunities, overseas Cypriots say

    The developments in Cyprus' Exclusive Economic Zone and the involvement in the process of the American Noble Energy present great opportunities and potentials for the island, the organizations of overseas Cypriots have pointed out.

    They also stressed the importance of the further enhancement of the relations with the Jewish lobby. The organizations of overseas Cypriots (POMAK, PSEKA and NEPOMAK) gathered in Nicosia for a two-day conference 21-22 August.

    Speaking at a press conference Friday, following the conclusion of the meetings, PSEKA President Philip Christofer said that Cyprus' interests in the region must correspond with those of the United States and Israel, pointing out that we have much to gain if we keep developing our ties with the Jewish lobby.

    Newly elected POMAK President Andreas Papaevripides, send a message of solidarity to Cypriots, noting that all the Cypriots overseas are joining hands to assist Cyprus to overcome the current economic crisis. He also stressed the importance of the existing relations with the Jewish lobby, noting that at least 80 MPs in the UK Parliament are Jewish and they have been supporting Cyprus and its struggle mostly for the Cyprus problem.
