[01] Defence Minister sends message of appreciation to Armed Forces
Defence Minister Demetris Eliades has expressed his appreciation to the
military and political personnel of the Cypriot armed forces and the
Defence Ministry for serving their country.
In a message ahead of the holiday season, Eliades points out that the
effort must continue as long as Turkey's occupation of Cyprus' northern
part continues and congratulates the officers, volunteers, soldiers and
the civilian personnel for their contribution to a successful Cyprus EU
Presidency, which ends in December.
According to an official announcement, the Minister praises the "serious
and responsible" job of the personnel in rendering the National Guard,
the Republic's armed forces, into a modern European army, capable of
defending the country's freedom.
