Eleven Olympique de Marseille fans, who had come to Cyprus for a Europa League match against AEL, were arrested on Thursday and remanded in custody for theft.

The suspects allegedly stole perfume and tobacco products, worth €2,186 from a duty free shop at Larnaca Airport.

According to a Police spokesman, a security guard saw one of the suspects stealing perfume so he approached him and asked him to pay for it, which the fan did and was then allowed to leave. After the suspects had left the shop, a security guard found, through the closed circuit TV system, that other members of the group had stolen perfume and cigarettes.

With both teams already eliminated, AEL beat Marseille 3-0 at the GSP Stadium.

According to the official site of UEFA, Orlando Sá`s towering header just before half-time gave the hosts the lead at the GSP Stadium, before late strikes from Edmar and Chris Dickson put the result beyond doubt.
