President of the Fédération Internationale de l`Automobile (FIA) - the governing body for world motorsport, was in Cyprus this week for a short visit.

[02] Political consultations between Cyprus and Russia

Bilateral cooperation between Russia and Cyprus can develop in a dynamic manner, the Russian Foreign Ministry notes in an announcement.

Cyprus Foreign Ministry Permanent Secretary Petros Eftychiou and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Vladimir Titof held political consultations, during which the two sides noted the promising prospects in promoting and expanding their cooperation further, especially in finance, trade and investments.

The two officials are responsible for the Joint Action Plan between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Cyprus for the years 2010-2013.

[03] Omirou meets Romanian Foreign Minister

House President Yiannakis Omirou briefed on Tuesday the Romanian Foreign Minister Titus Corlăţean on the latest developments in the Cyprus economy.

Omirou stressed that the promotion of austerity and fiscal consolidation measures could only be successful if included in a new model of economic governance, based on growth and employment.

"As the state that holds the Presidency of the Council of the EU for the current term, we are obliged to restore the trust of the European citizens, through policies that safeguard and not harm the social coherence", he said.
