[01] President: Global economic crisis an obstacle to children's welfare
The global economic crisis is an obstacle to the welfare of children,
President of the Republic Demetris Christofias has said, speaking at a
reception Thursday evening at the Presidential Palace, on the occasion of
the 16th Annual Conference and General Assembly of the European Network
of Ombudspersons for Children (ENOC).
The President expressed his full support to the humanitarian work of
the European Ombudspersons for Children, pointing out that "the future
is for the children."
The conference under the title "Juvenile Delinquency:
Justice-friendly-Structures and Procedures for Prevention and
Intervention" is under the auspices of Cyprus Presidency of the Council
of the EU.
[02] Cyprus hosts XLVIII COSAC Conference
The House of Representatives will host, from October 14-16, the Conference
of Parliamentary Committees for Union Affairs of Parliaments of the
European Union - XLVIII COSAC, as part of the parliamentary dimension
of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
Discussions at the Conference will focus on the Priorities of the Cyprus
Presidency, the State of the Union, as well as the topics of Energy -
Security of Supply, Single Market - Governance and the Europe 2020
Strategy - Recovery from the Economic Crisis, as well as making "More
Europe" a reality.
The Conference will adopt Conclusions and the Contribution of COSAC to
the EU institutions.
