[03] Evaluation of hydrocarbon bids based on existing legislation, Minister says

The process concerning Cyprus' hydrocarbon exploration licenses is based on the provisions of the existing legislation, Commerce Minister Neoklis Sylikiotis said here today.

Sylikiotis noted he referred all offers on Friday to the Chairwoman of the advisory committee, charged with the evaluation of bids, who is also the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce.

The Minister was commenting on a pending legal process at the Cyprus High Court, concerning the law on the research, exploration and exploitation of hydrocarbon reserves in Cyprus' Exclusive Economic Zone.

[04] Thalassaemia treatment research project partners to meet in Nicosia

Good clinical practices will be the focus of a meeting between the fourteen partners of the research programme DEEP "DEferiprone Evaluation in Paediatrics" to take place between May 17 – 18, in Nicosia.

The DEEP project which is financed by the European Commission has been developed with the specific intent to integrate the existing information on deferiprone use in children 2-10 years old, thus covering the lack of knowledge and providing a valid support to the use of the drug in children of all ages.

The aim of this application is to provide data on pharmacokinetics, efficacy and safety of deferiprone in 2-10 years old children in order to produce an approved Paediatric Investigational Plan to be used for regulatory purposes.
