[01] Felt earthquake recorded on Friday
A 5.4 magnitude earthquake was felt in the south-eastern coastal area
of Larnaca Saturday night.
According to the Geological Survey Department of the Ministry of
Agriculture, Natural Resources and the Environment, the quake struck at
2148 local time, with an epicenter of 70 km south of Larnaca town and
a focal depth of about 50 km.
The quake was mainly felt across the island, especially in coastal towns,
the statement said, adding it is part of the seismic activity of the
Cyprus arc. Its development is closely monitored by the Seismological
Centre.
