    Cyprus – Israel bilateral relations are in their best period, Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman has said.

    Lieberman, who is currently on a three-day official visit to Cyprus, met here Tuesday the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism Neoclis Sylikiotis.

    Speaking to the press after the meeting, Sylikiotis said they discussed the prospects of further expansion of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of energy, tourism and investments.

    The Cypriot Minister said he briefed the Israeli Foreign Minister on the simplification of procedures to attract investment in Cyprus and noted that Israeli companies are already operating in Cyprus.

    On tourism, Sylikiotis said on these issues there is coordination with the competent ministries and the Cyprus Tourism Organization in order to take measures to increase the tourist flow between the two countries

    He announced that he will continue discussions on these issues during his upcoming visit to Israel where he will meet with his Israeli counterparts.

    He noted that the current visit of Israeli Foreign Minister as well as previous visits of Israeli official to Cyprus contribute to broadening and deepening cooperation between the two countries in all fields.

    Referring to Cyprus – Israel cooperation, Lieberman said that many projects are currently underway in the fields of tourism, management of water resources and energy. In his remarks he referred to Israeli investments in industry and real estate in Cyprus.

    He noted that bilateral relations continue to develop at a good pace and announced that the Finance Minister of Israel will visit Cyprus next month.

    In conclusion, Israeli Minister said he was pleased with the fact that Cyprus – Israel relations are in their best period and expressed the hope that they would yield tangible results.

    [02] Spokesman: Cyprus fully respects places of worship of Turkish Cypriots

    The Government of Cyprus rejects and denounces Turkish Cypriot side's attempt to politicize fire that was set to the Haji Ibrahim Aga mosque, in Limassol, Government Spokesman Stephanos Stephanou underlined on Tuesday.

    Stephanou said that the fire was set intentionally in the early hours of Great Saturday, destroying the mosque's wooden roof and causing damage to the external walls.

    According to the Spokesman the place was inspected by officers of the Department of Antiquities who have assessed that the damages caused are not of archaeological significance and works for their reparation have already begun. The police have been given clear instructions to fully investigate the incident and find the perpetrators, he added.

    [03] IMF: Cyprus economy will shrink by 1,2% in 2012

    The International Monetary Fund (IMF) projects that Cyprus' economy will shrink by 1,2% in 2012 and will grow by 0,8% in 2013.

    According to April 2012 edition of the IMF World Economic and Financial Survey, released on Tuesday, Cyprus inflation rate is expected to be 2,8% in 2012 and to fall to 2,2% in 2013. In addition, the IMF projects that the deficit of the Cyprus Current Account Balance as a percentage to GPD will be 6,2% in 2012 and 6,3% in 2013.

    For Greece, IMF projects that the economy will shrink by 4,7% in 2012 and that there will be zero growth in 2013. As regards unemployment race in Greece, IMF projects that will reach 19,4% in 2012 and 2013 as well.

    The April 2012 edition of the World Economic Outlook assesses the prospects for the global economy, which has gradually strengthened after a major setback during 2011.
