[01] Ministers discuss Cyprus-Israel electricity link
Cyprus Commerce, Industry and Tourism Minister Praxoula Antoniadou
Kyriacou and Energy and Water Resources Minister of Israel Uzi Landau
have discussed the next steps to advance the project of an underwater
electricity cable to link Israel and Cyprus.
According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
of Israel, Antoniadou and Landau met on Tuesday in Jerusalem and they
discussed infrastructure issues, including possible bilateral
cooperation in the field of energy.
Minister Landau visited Cyprus last November in the framework of
President Shimon Peres`s visit, the press release adds.
It is noted that during the meetings with Minister Kyriacou and other
senior officials in Nicosia, Minister Landau first raised the idea of
an underwater electricity cable to link Israel and Cyprus.
At the meeting, it continues, which was held in a warm and friendly
atmosphere, the two ministers discussed the next steps to promote the
project.
