[01] GENEVA MEETING SCHEDULEUN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon`s meeting in Geneva with Cyprus President Demetris Christofias and Turkish Cypriot leader Dervis Eroglu on Wednesday will be followed by a working lunch and a press statement by the UNSG in the presence of the two Cyprus leaders.According to a press release issued by UN Peace Keeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) here, the meeting is scheduled to start at 10 am (11 am Cyprus time) at the Palais des Nations UN Headquarters in Geneva. The meeting will be followed by a working lunch and then a statement to be read out by the Secretary-General in the presence of the two leaders, the press release added. The press statement is expected to be delivered by the Secretary-General in front of the media at approximately 2:15 pm (3:15 pm, Cyprus time). [02] HOUSE PRESIDENT SHANGHAI CONTACTSThe potential of cooperation in shipping was the topic of discussion between the President of the Cypriot House of Representatives, Marios Garoyian, and the President of the Standing Committee of the National People`s Congress in Shanghai Province, Liu Yungeng. Garoyian and a House delegation, on an official visit to China, met on Tuesday in Shanghai with Yungeng and other NPC officials.The House President noted Cyprus leading position in the area of shipping and added that Shanghai, as one of the biggest maritime centers in the world, could develop a scheme of cooperation with the Republic of Cyprus. Garoyian expressed gratitude for the support China offers to Cyprus through the UN and other international organisations, in its fight for the liberation and reunification of the country as well as in favour of the preservation of the Republics sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence. Yungeng expressed support to the development of bilateral relations in the areas of finance, trade, shipping and tourism. As he put it, the potential for developing our bilateral relations is great.
