[01] CYPRUS TALKS NEW MEETINGS
The dates for the next meetings between Cyprus President Demetris
Christofias and Turkish Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali Talat in the
framework of direct negotiations have announced.
Government Spokesman Stephanos Stephanou has said in a written
statement that after consultations with the UN the dates of next
meetings proposed by President Christofias are February 24, March 4,
March 16 and March 30.
[02] GDP GROWTH RATE - CYPRUS
The GDP growth rate in real terms during the fourth quarter of 2009 is
negative and estimated at -2,7% over the corresponding quarter of 2008,
according to the Statistical Service.
Based on seasonally and working day adjusted data, the GDP growth rate
in real terms is estimated at -2,7%.
The negative growth rate of the economy during the fourth quarter of
2009 is mainly attributed to the very negative growth rates observed in
the construction, hotel and restaurant industries, as well as the poor
performance displayed in the manufacturing, trade and transport
industries.
