[01] ZERIHOUN LEADERS MEETINGSpecial Representative of the UN Secretary-General in Cyprus Taye-Brook Zerihoun has said that the leaders of the two communities in Cyprus held a good and friendly discussion Tuesday in the framework of the second round of UN led direct talks in Nicosia.As customary they met mostly in tete - a tete. They told us they had good and friendly discussions in those tete a tete and they have now agreed on a series of meetings, Zerihoun said after the meeting between President of Cyprus Demetris Christofias and Turkish Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali Talat. Zerihoun announced that the representatives of the two leaders, George Iacovou and Ozdil Nami, will meet on the 19th of November to continue discussion on the properties issue. He said that the two leaders will meet again on Friday the 20th. That meeting will be devoted on organisational matters. They are going to review the process, the timing of the meetings, the schedule of meetings of representatives and the leaders to make sure that they have an efficient process, he said. An other meeting will follow next week between the leaders of the two communities on the 24th, to take up the issue on aliens, citizenship, immigration and asylum. So we have three meetings, between now and next Tuesday, Zerihoun pointed out. Asked if the leaders have finalised their discussion on the categories regarding the properties chapter, he said they are continuing those discussions, noting that their representatives will meet on Thursday to discuss those matters. [02] NATIONAL COUNCIL MEETINGThe National Council, during its next meeting, will be discussing the latest developments in the Cyprus problem and the home front, as well as Turkey`s evaluation by the EU in December.According to a statement issued by Government Spokesman Stephanos Stephanou, the National Council will convene on November 24 and will be presided over by President of the Republic of Cyprus Demetris Christofias. The Council comprises representatives of the six parliamentary parties and is the top advisory body to the President. [03] LARNAKA AIRPORT FULL OPERATIONThe new Larnaca International Airport opened fully on Monday evening, at midnight, when all airlines began using the new airport for their flights, making a fresh start in air communications for Cyprus.Hermes Airports Communications and Public Relations Director Adamos Aspris said ``Hermes Airports announces that at midnight on November 16, the old Larnaca Airport stopped operating and as of today, November 17, the old Larnaca Airport passed the baton of air communications to the new Larnaca International Airport.`` Aspris said the last arrival at the old airport was a Syrian Airlines flight from Damascus, which landed at 22:25 local time, while the last departure was also a Syrian Airlines flight to Damascus, which took off at 23:35. ``We feel the need to express our deepest gratitude and warm thanks to the thousands of people who for 35 years worked indefatigably at the old Larnaca Airport and managed right after the Turkish invasion and in adverse conditions to keep our country in contact with the rest of the world,`` he added. [04] CNA - NNA AGREEMENTThe Cyprus News Agency (CNA) and the National News Agency of Lebanon (NNA) have signed an agreement of cooperation, which provides for the exchange of news and services.The agreement, which has a one year duration, was signed Monday by CNA Chairman of the Board of Directors Costakis Constantinou and NNA Director Laure Sleiman, after the conclusion of the international conference ``News Agencies: Concerns and Challenges``, organised by CNA in Limassol. According to the provisions of the agreement, the two news agencies agree to exchange their English services, free of charge, and their distribution in their respective countries, and also agree to exchange their domestic photo coverage, free of charge. The two news agencies agree to support each other`s initiatives to establish and/or run their representative bureaus in Nicosia or Beirut, and extend equal and reciprocal assistance to each other`s resident, special and visiting reporters and photojournalists.
