[01] LEADERS MEETING

The meeting will start at 1000 local time (0800 GMT) at the UN Protected Area of the now defunct Nicosia international airport.

In the last meeting, the UN Secretary General`s Special Adviser on Cyprus Alexander Downer said that every day they are inching along and noted that Friday`s session was a good opportunity to talk through the issues and continue to work through the property chapter.

Asked if he felt that once the leaders overcome the property issue, things will proceed faster, the UN official said that for every part of the negotiation where there is agreement, the process becomes easier.

He also pointed out that property is a difficult legal issue and a difficult economic issue. So, it takes time to work through these details, he added.

Christofias and Talat began UN-led talks in September 2008 in a bid to achieve a mutually agreed solution to the problem of Cyprus, divided since 1974 when Turkey invaded and occupied its northern third.

In his intervention, Andreas Christodoulides, Consultant to the President/ Director-General of the Athens News Agency - Macedonian News Agency, in his speech entitled ``Digital Journalism and News Agencies- Still ``Get it first, but first get it right`` said digital media is traditionally new and is competing at an economically critical time. However, the value of news is restricted, he said.

Monomedia businesses are turning into multimedia, driven by the technological and cultural changes, he added. At the same time, sources have multiplied, with the presence of blogs, Twitter, while the technology has increased with the presence of wireless cameras, mobiles and internet and more, he noted.

These changes have had consequences in the work of news agencies, said Christodoulides, with the mass increase of cybermediaries and aggregators.

[04] EUROSTAT CYPRUS INFLATION

According to Eurostat, Euro area annual inflation was -0.1% in October 2009, up from -0.3% in September. A year earlier the rate was 3.2%. Monthly inflation was 0.2% in October 2009.

EU annual inflation was 0.5% in October 2009, up from 0.3% in September. A year earlier the rate was 3.7%. Monthly inflation was 0.2% in October 2009.

In October 2009, the lowest annual rates were observed in Ireland (-2.8%), Estonia (-2.1%) and Portugal (-1.6%), and the highest in Romania (4.3%), Hungary (4.2%) and Poland (3.8%). Compared with September 2009, annual inflation fell in eleven Member States and rose in fifteen.
