[01] CHRISTOFIAS - TALAT - UN TALKSNeither the Greek Cypriot nor the Turkish Cypriot side is ready to discuss in depth issues relating to properties, in the context of UN-led peace talks, President Demetris Christofias has said.``We are not yet ready to discuss this issue in depth, the President replied, when asked whether there was an agreement on the criteria on property-related issues. Speaking on arrival at the Presidential Palace, after his meeting on Monday with the Turkish Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali Talat, Christofias said that the discussion on the issue of properties will continue during his next meeting with Talat on Friday afternoon. There is nothing new to report, Christofias told journalists, adding that we discussed some current issues and of course the properties issue in our tete-a-tete meeting. He said their advisers would continue the discussion on this issue before Fridays meeting. Commenting on Turkish press reports that the Turkish side would put on the negotiating table a roadmap relating to the ongoing talks, President Christofias replied: ``No there is no such issue. Christofias and Talat began UN-led talks in September 2008 in a bid to achieve a mutually agreed solution to the problem of Cyprus, divided since 1974 when Turkey invaded and occupied its northern third. The two leaders have entered the second phase of the talks for the ``second reading`` of the six chapters of the Cyprus problem, namely, governance and power-sharing, property, EU matters, economic matters, territory and security and guarantees. [02] UN CYPRUS ENVOY - PEACE TALKSThe property issue was the focus of a new meeting on Monday between President Demetris Christofias and Turkish Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali Talat, in the context of the second round of UN-led talks, aimed at finding a mutually acceptable solution to the Cyprus problem. Speaking to the press after the meeting, which lasted nearly two hours, Special Adviser of the UN Secretary-General Alexander Downer said that the leaders mainly met in a tete-a-tete session with the representatives.They focused their attention on the property question and the two representatives and their teams are going to come together here on Thursday for further discussions about the property question, he added. He went on to say that the leaders will meet again on Friday afternoon at 4 oclock local time (1400 GMT) to review what has been done by the representatives during the course of Thursday morning. That is essentially what has been discussed today, Downer said. He also said that the leaders had mapped out a programme of meetings until December 2nd. Asked if the leaders were coming to an agreement on the property issue or they would be continuing the discussion, he said that they will be just continuing their work, adding that there is a lot of work to do here. [03] RUSSIAN FM - CYPRUS VISITRussian FM Sergei Lavrov will pay an official visit to Cyprus on November 4, at the invitation of his Cypriot counterpart Markos Kyprianou. According to an official statement, during his visit, Lavrov will be received by President of the Republic Demetris Christofias and he will attend a working lunch, at the Presidential Palace.Later in the day, he will have a private meeting with his Kyprianou, followed by talks with the participation of the respective delegations from the two countries. Lavrov will also meet the President of the House of Representatives Marios Garoyian. During Lavrovs visit, Cyprus and Russia will sign a political consultations protocol for 2010 - 2011 and a cooperation programme in the fields of science, education and civilisation for 2009 - 2012. [04] CYPRUS EMBASSY - ABU DHABIMinister of Foreign Affairs, Markos Kyprianou and Deputy Foreign Minister of the United Arab Emirates Khaled Al Marri have inaugurated the embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Abu Dhabi. Kostas Papadimas was appointed Ambassador of Cyprus to the United Arab Emirates.On Sunday, Kyprianou attended a lunch in his honor, hosted by Foreign Minister of United Arab Emirates Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
