The official welcoming ceremony for Greek Prime Minister George
Papandreou was held on Monday morning at the Presidential Palace,
shortly after Papandreou`s arrival in Cyprus for a two-day official
visit.
Papandreou was welcomed at the Presidential Palace by President of the
Republic Demetris Christofias.
A Police Philharmonic band and a National Guard contingent paid honours
to the Greek Prime Minister, who laid a wreath at the statue of
Archbishop Makarios III, the first President of the Republic.
President Christofias and the Greek Prime Minister then entered the
Presidential Palace for a tete-a-tete meeting, followed by talks with
the participation of their delegations.
Papandreou will later sign the Presidential Palace guest book, followed
by statements to the press by President Christofias and the Greek Prime
Minister.
