In a message to mark the World Maritime Day, Nicolaides says that Cyprus has included climate change and gas emissions in the Maritime Cyprus 2009 congress, to be held from September 27 to 30 in Limassol, adding that the conclusions are expected to give an impetus to efforts underway internationally to tackle climate change and global warming.

``Climate change affects us all. Thus, the responsibility to tackle and solve the problems arising lies with all of us. No country and no organisation by itself can tackle climate change. As the topic of this year`s World Maritime Day suggests, the handling of climate change is a challenge for the International Maritime Organisation, its member states and the shipping industry,`` he says.

He adds that the International Maritime Organisation is actively and dynamically participating in the struggle to protect and preserve the marine and atmospheric environment, and has drafted an ambitious and feasible action plan, and is working to create a healthy and stable regime to regulate shipping on an international level, and will furthermore contribute to slowing down climate change.

[02] CSE - CYPRUS CONFERENCE

According to an announcement issued today by the CSE, the road show was carried out on Thursday, September 17, 2009 within the framework of the 2nd Annual Cyprus Conference in cooperation with Citigroup. It was attended by the CSE Chairman and General Manager G. Koufaris and Nontas Metaxas, as well as by representatives of the three listed Cypriot banks.

During the road show, representatives from the three Cypriot banks, Bank of Cyprus, Marfin Popular Bank and Hellenic Bank, had private meetings with foreign institutional investors and company representatives, whom they informed on their business plans. The representatives of the Cypriot banks hold 27 meetings with almost 20 institutional investors.

During the contacts, the institutional investors expressed their interest in the economic and business environment of Cyprus and the course and development plans of the CSE-listed companies.
