Cyprus House President Marios Garoyian expressed certainty that the EU
Czech Presidency will try to boost efforts aiming at Turkeys full
compliance with the obligations and commitments it has undertaken
towards the EU, namely the recognition of the Republic of Cyprus, the
normalization of its relations with the Republic of Cyprus and the
implementation of the Ankara Treaty.
In statements after being received by President of the Czech Republic
Vaclav Klaus, Garoyian, who is paying an official visit to Prague, at
the invitation of his Czech counterpart, described his meeting with
Klaus as friendly, cordial and constructive, noting that they discussed
about the relations between the Czech Republic and the Republic of
Cyprus as well as about the EU Czech Presidency.
Klaus reiterated the positions of principle of his country with regard
to the prospect of solving the Cyprus question and we had the
opportunity to express out positions, our views and our approaches and
to reiterate the will to see the Cyprus problem being solved the
soonest possible on the basis of principles and according to the UN
resolutions, the EU principles and values and on the basis of the
international law, Garoyian said.
