  • [01] GREEK FM - ATTILA OLGAC - MISSING PERSONS

Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs Dora Bakoyianni has assured that the Greek government, in cooperation with the Cypriot government, and in the framework of the UN and the EU, will utilise the confession of Turkish actor Attila Olgac, who said he killed ten Greek Cypriots during the 1974 invasion of the island, as an additional element in shedding light on the issue of missing persons in Cyprus.

Speaking before the Hellenic Parliament, Bakoyiannis pointed out that this evidence did not meet the necessary prerequisites to take Olgac to the International Court of Justice at The Hague.

She said the issue of missing persons in Cyprus was a humanitarian matter of great importance and that the Greek government was handling it with caution and sensitivity, noting that the issue directly concerns Greece, since there are also Greek families still living in the hope that the fate of their loved ones will be determined.
