[01] RUSSIA - CYPRUS - OCCUPATION REGIMEMoscow has stressed that it will not recognise the illegal Turkish Cypriot regime, in northern Turkish occupied Cyprus, saying that Russia has not changed its position on the Cyprus question.The Spokesman of the Russian embassy in Nicosia Vladimir Maystrenko assured on Tuesday that the Russian Federation was not a country to change its stance on the Cyprus problem overnight and pointed out that remarks by Russian Ambassador to Turkey Vladimir Ivanovski that Russia would be recognising the regime in the Turkish occupied areas of Cyprus had been taken out of context. ``The Ambassador of Russia was clear when he was asked yesterday by Turkish reporters on the possibility of recognising the self-styled regime. He said it was not possible for Moscow to recognise this pseudo-state and reiterated UN resolutions,`` Maystrenko told CNA. Maystrenko added that ``we cannot but express our regret that some people are led astray by such reports and indeed hurry to advise the government of the Republic of Cyprus to make representations to Russia.`` Cypriot Minister of Foreign Affairs Markos Kyprianou, commenting on Ivanovski`s statements, said the government takes note of the Russian position that there is no possibility of recognising the illegal entity in the Turkish occupied areas and that the issue of South Ossetia and Cyprus are two different matters. The government, he added, also takes note of Moscows position that the Turkish Cypriot regime is the result of the 1974 Turkish invasion and occupation of the island`s northern third. ``This is the official Russian position and this is the one we keep,`` Kyprianou said, speaking on the sidelines of a visit to the Cyprus News Agency. [02] CYPRUS - THAILANDThe Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus is monitoring developments in Thailand in cooperation with Cyprus` High Commissioner in New Delhi, who is also accredited in Thailand, as well as with the Honorary Consulate of Thailand.Minister of Foreign Affairs Markos Kyprianou, speaking on the sidelines of a visit to the Cyprus New Agency, said the issue of Cypriot citizens in Thailand is ``something we are looking into and coordinating.`` ``We are also in coordination with other European countries in order to have a common approach, especially countries that are represented in Thailand, and we are monitoring the situation,`` he added.
