Women will be the majority of voters in the upcoming presidential elections of February 17, while the largest age group of voters is that of 20 to 29 years old. According to data released by the Chief Returning Officer Lazaros Savvides, of a total of 515,994 voters, 261,410 are women and 254,584 men. The largest age group, 20 to 29 years old, totals 96,543 voters, of which 49,708 are men and 46,835 women. Following is the 20 to 49 age group with 95,875 voters, of which 48,540 are men and 47,335 women.

The Chief Returning Officer has called on all voters to make sure they have not misplaced their voting books, and notes that replacements can be issued until February 16. New voters have been urged to collect their voting books from their local authorities by February 15, otherwise they will be returned to the District Offices and may be picked up from there.

Earlier today, Savvides met with representatives of the nine presidential hopefuls to talk about the final shape of the ballot paper. They agreed to finalise it at a second meeting on Tuesday. Todays discussions on the ballot paper focused on the size of each candidates emblem and on whether the names will begin with the surname or the first name of each candidate. He said 550.000 ballot papers will be printed, more than the number of voters to have a surplus should they be needed.
