    Russian Ambassador to Cyprus Andrey Nesterenko has underlined the significance of next weeks meeting between President of the Republic Tassos Papadopoulos and Turkish Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali Talat.

    Speaking after meeting Interior Minister Christos Patsalides, Nesterenko said they discussed development in the Cyprus problem and the Papadopoulos-Talat meeting on 5 September.

    Nesterenko emphasised the importance of the meeting as part of the July 8 2006 agreement between Papadopoulos and Talat, an accord supported by the five permanent members of the Security Council, including Russia.

    [02] LARNACA - INDIAN SHIPS

    Three Indian naval ships are visiting Larnaca Port from 15 to 20 September 2007. All ships form part of the 1wt Training Squadron Based at Kochi, India, under the aegis of the Indian Navy`s Southern Naval Command.

    According to a press release issued by the High Commission of India, the INS Tarangini, the Indian Navy`s sole sail training ship, will be visiting Larnaca from 16 to 20 September 2007 and it will be open for visitors from 17 to 19 September 2007.
