    [04] WURTZ - LEDRA - WALL

The Confederal Group of the European United Left - Nordic Green Left (GUE/NGL) in the European Parliament welcomes ``the positive move of the government of the Republic of Cyprus to demolish, on March 9, 2007, the wall and military post in Ledra Street, a point on the Green Line that divides Nicosia, the capital of Cyprus, in two as a result of the presence, since 1974, of Turkish occupying troops.``

In a statement, President of GUE/NGL Francis Wurtz says ``this move by the Cypriot government shows the political will and decisiveness of the Greek Cypriot side to proceed with the opening of Ledra Street, as well as of other crossing points, what the EU and the UN also call for.``
