  • [01] HOUSE PRESIDENT - CYPRUS QUESTION

Cyprus House President Demetris Christofias has said that Turkey is responsible for the failure of initiatives to solve the Cyprus question, as it does not cooperate nor does it consent to a functional and viable settlement, which will meet the interests and expectations of all Cypriots.

Addressing a regional meeting of the World Council of Hellenes Abroad (SAE), held in Paphos, Christofias warned that if Turkey were to remain unrestraint without meeting its contractual obligations towards Cyprus, which essentially are obligations towards the EU, then the EU will lose credibility and prospects for a settlement will be annulled, because Turkey will have no reason to deal with Cyprus and no motive for a settlement.
