  • [01] ARCHBISHOPRIC ELECTIONS - PROCESS - NO PROBLEMS

The process for the election of 1,400 special representatives in the first phase to elect a new Archbishop for the Autocephalous Church of Cyprus has started without any problems, Yiannis Harilaou, in charge of the church election body told CNA.

Harilaou said that those in charge of the polling stations will try in every way to maintain normality to allow observers to be present at the stations and allow supporting groups supervisors, who wear the special badges, to move around the stations.

There must be communication and understanding among people so that the process will finish in the same proper manner that it has started and people can exercise their sacred democratic right. The winner of this process will be the Church of Cyprus and the Church of Christ, he added.
