[01] CYPRUS PRESIDENT - GREECECyprus President Tassos Papadopoulos will hold Monday and Tuesday a series of meeting with the Greek political leadership.The latest developments in the Cyprus question, in the light of the agreement reached Saturday between Papadopoulos and Turkish Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali Talat, will be the focus of discussions. Papadopoulos and Talat have agreed to begin a process of bicommunal discussions on issues that affect the day to day life of the people and concurrently those that concern substantive issues, both contributing to a comprehensive settlement to the Cyprus problem. Papadopoulos will meet this morning with Greek President Karolos Papoulias and later on lay a wreath at a monument for the Greeks killed for their country. He will also meet with Greek Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis, who following their talks, will host a working lunch for the President and his delegation. Later in the afternoon Papadopoulos will attend a ceremony during which Cypriot actor and director Michalis Kakoyiannis will be decorated. On Tuesday, Papadopoulos will meet with Greek party leaders and representatives and will attend a lunch hosted by Papoulias. [02] PAPADOPOULOS - UN - CYPRUS QUESTIONCypriot President Tassos Papadopoulos said on Sunday that Cyprus can count on the good intentions and will of UN Secretary General Kofi Annan to assist in paving the way for a solution of the Cyprus problem.The President said his meeting on Saturday with UN Undersecretary General for political affairs Ibrahim Gambari and Turkish Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali Talat was a significant step, adding that things will get tougher later on. He expressed hope that the new opening will have a positive outcome and confirmed that discussions on matters of substance and day-to-day issues would be concurrent [03] HOUSE PRESIDENT - PAPADOPOULOS-TALAT-GAMBARI MEETINGActing President of the Republic, House President Demetris Christofias has welcomed the latest developments in Cyprus, describing as a positive step the outcome of Saturday`s meeting between the leaders of the island`s two communities with UN Undersecretary General for political affairs Ibrahim Gambari.Christofias also said that things will get tougher later on and difficulties are yet to come, stressing the need for goodwill on the part of the two leaders so as to finalize the list of issues for discussion and start talks at the level of the technical committees, to be set up.
