The Holy Synod, the highest body of the Church of Cyprus, has decided by majority that the acting primate of the Cyprus church, Pafos Bishop Chrysostomos, should visit Wednesday the Eucumenical Patriarch Vartholomeos in Fanari, Constantinople (Istanbul).

Bishop Chrysostomos will convey to Vartholomeos the decision of the Synod that it is not prepared to discuss changes to its Charter at next week`s meeting in Geneva, called by the Patriarch to discuss the replacement or not of Cyprus` ailing Archbishop, who has been incapacitated for the past four years.

``If the Eucumenical Patriarch Vartholomeos does not give the necessary assurances that issues of the Church of Cyprus` Constitutional Charter will not be raised, there is no point in the majority of the Holy Synod going to Switzerland``, Pafos Bishop Chrysostomos said.
