Commissioner Barrot to address ''Maritime Cyprus 2005''

Nicosia, Sep 23 (CNA) -- Vice President of the European Commission, Commissioner for Transport and Energy, Jacques Barrot, arrives in Cyprus on Sunday to address the opening ceremony of the Maritime Cyprus 2005 Conference that will be held in the coastal town of Limassol, 25 - 28 September.

Around 800 people from 35 countries will attend the biennial conference.

Cyprus National Council members over EU - Turkey developments

Nicosia, Sep 23 (CNA) -- Cyprus President Tassos Papadopoulos briefed today the members of the National Council, over the provisions of the EU counter-statement to Turkey's unilateral declaration of non recognition of the Cyprus Republic and the negotiating framework of the EU Turkey accession talks, in connection with Cyprus.

Government Spokesman Kypros said the Council, convened for four hours and some political parties have expressed disagreement in connection with the conclusion of the consultations at the EU.

Cyprus Airways trains British pilots

Larnaca, Sep 23 (CNA) National carrier Cyprus Airways has begun training British pilots as part of an agreement with a British training organization of pilots on Airbus Á320 and Á319.

It is the first time that Britons are trained by Cypriots, a CA press release says, as for almost fifty years the opposite was happening.
