Spokesman: Turkish occupation regime showed its real face

Nicosia Sept 2 (CNA) -- Cypriot Government Spokesman Kypros Chrysostomides criticized today the occupying regime for imposing passport control to Greek Cypriot pilgrims crossing to the Turkish occupied north of the island to attend religious rites at Saint Mamas church in occupied Morphou.

''The occupying regime of Mehmet Ali Talat has shown once more its real face,'' the Spokesman noted during his regular press briefing, adding that ''it has been proved yet again that the occupation regime does not respect the commitments it assumes.''

Chrysostomides said that the occupying regime imposed checks to every individual crossing to the occupied areas to attend the religious rites at Saint Mamas, whereas no such procedure was followed for Turkish Cypriots who crossed to village of Kokkina last month which is occupied but is accessible only through the government controlled areas.
