Bryza warns time is running out on Cyprus

Nicosia, Aug 29 (CNA) Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Southeast Europe Matthew Bryza has said he believes Cyprus President Tassos Papadopoulos would return to the negotiating table as Papadopoulos realises that time is running out.

In statements he made last week during a trip to Turkey, Bryza underlined that it is not the US policy to recognise the self-styled Turkish Cypriot regime in northern Turkish occupied Cyprus.

Asked if he sees any reason for the Cypriot President to return to the talks, Bryza replied positively and explained that time is not necessarily on his side.

Report on air crash set to be ready in six months, says investigator

Larnaca, Aug 29 (CNA) Á report on the cause of an Helios air crash earlier this month, that killed all 121 people on board, will be ready in six months time, if all goes to plan, Akrivos Tsolakis, Head of the Greek Investigating Commission on Air Accidents and Incidents said here tonight, as he arrived on the island to continue his investigations.

He also said the object of the investigations he is conducting is to establish the cause of the accident.

The Helios Airways Boeing 737, from Larnaca to Prague via Athens, crashed near the Greek capital on August 14 killing 115 passengers and six crew.
