    Cypriot Ambassador presents credentials to UNIDO

    Nicosia, Aug 22 (CNA) --The Permanent Representative of the Republic at the UN in Geneva, Kornilios Korniliou, has presented his credentials to the General Director of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Haruko Hirose.

    According to an official press release today, Ambassador Korniliou in a meeting with Hirose noted the significance which the Republic attributes to the work of UNIDO and expressed the readiness of the Cyprus government for closer cooperation with the Organization.

    Weather forecast for Cyprus

    Nicosia, Aug 22 (CNA) -- The Meteorological Office at Larnaca International Airport has issued the following weather forecast for Cyprus:

    Tuesday and Wednesday: 23/08/2005 to 24/08/2005

    Mainly fine weather, but overnight fog and low cloud are expected to form locally, mainly in valleys and over the coastal areas.

    Gentle to moderate sea breezes, Southwest to Northwest, 3BF to 4BF will prevail during daytime, becoming Northwest to Northwest, light to gentle, 2BF to 3BF overnight.

    Temperature will range between 22C and 37C inland, 23C and 32C over the south and east coasts, 23C and 31C over the west coasts and between 19C and 31C over the mountains.

    Outlook for Thursday and Friday: 25/08/2005 to 26/08/2005

    Mainly fine weather with local cloud in the afternoons on Thursday and Friday. Temperature will gradually decrease.

    Sea temperature: 26-28C.

    More bodies in Helios plane air tragedy to be flown home tonight

    Nicosia, Aug 22 (CNA) The bodies of 27 victims of the Helios plane air crash on 14th August that were identified through the DNA process will be flown home tonight for burial from Athens on a C-130 provided by the Greek Air Force.

    Most of the 121 victims of the fatal crash were Cypriots, among them 22 children. There were some Greek nationals and a German, the captain of the flight. On 16th August 23 bodies were flown home and most of them were buried. Some relatives opted to wait until all the bodies of their loved ones are identified and returned to Cyprus for burial.

    Health Minister Andreas Gavrielides told CNA that the bodies will be transferred to a specially arranged area and relatives will be able to collect them as of tomorrow.

    Chinese Foreign Minister arrives in Cyprus for official visit

    Larnaca, Aug 22 (CNA) Chinas Minister of Foreign Affairs Li Zhaoxing arrived on the island tonight for a two-day official visit, at the invitation of his Cypriot counterpart George Iacovou.

    No statements were made on arrival.

    Zhaoxing, who is accompanied by an eight-member delegation, will be received tomorrow by President of the Republic Tassos Papadopoulos and hold talks with Iacovou.
