    Cyprus President continues meetings in Athens

    Athens, Aug 18 (CNA) Cyprus President Tassos Papadopoulos and President of the Hellenic Republic Tassos Papadopoulos met today in Athens, in the shadow of Sundays air crash near Athens that killed all 121 people on board, mostly Cypriots.

    Receiving the Cypriot President, Papoulias expressed his condolences and said now you will also have to deal with new problems ahead.

    President Papadopoulos thanked the Greek President, adding that this accident was the first such incident in the history of the Republic.

    Cyprus and Greece coordinate action on crash

    Athens, Aug 18 (CNA) Greece and Cyprus agreed on additional actions to speed up then identification of the victims and completion of the investigations into Sundays Helios air crash near Athens which killed 121 people, mostly Cypriots.

    Cypriot President Tassos Papadopoulos and Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis made the relevant statement after talks at the Prime Ministers office in the Greek capital where Papadopoulos is on a working visit. He returns to Cyprus later Thursday.

    The two also reconfirmed their strategy and policy on the Cyprus problem and decided the course they will follow regarding Turkeys EU accession prospects, noting that these will be revealed at EU organs.

    Nicosia, Aug 18 (CNA) -- The Meteorological Office at Larnaca International Airport has issued the following weather forecast for Cyprus:

    Friday and Saturday: 192/08/2005 to 20/08/2005

    Fine weather with some local cloud inland and over the mountains in the afternoon. Winds during the day will be southwest to northwest gentel to moderate breezes and at night mainly southwest to northwest light to gentle breezes.

    Sea state mainly slight but locally slight to moderate in the afternoon over thw south west and north coasts and smooth to slight at night over the east coast.

    Maximum temperatures: 37C inland, 33C over thw south and east coast, 31C over the west and norht coast as well as over the highest mountain areas.

    Minimum temperatures: 20C inland and over the west coast and hightes mountain areas and 22c over the south and east coast.

    Outlook for Sunday and Monday: 21/08/2005 to 22/08/2005

    Fine weather with some local cloud indland and over the mountains in the afternoon. A decrease in temperature is expected on Sunday and a rise in temperature on Monday.

    Sea temperature: 26-28C.

    Bush sends a message of condolences to President Papadopoulos

    Nicosia, Aug 18 (CNA) --President of the United States George Bush has sent a message of condolences to the Cypriot President Tassos Papadopoulos for Sundays air crash that resulted in the death of 121 people.

    ''Laura and I send our deepest condolences to you, the Cypriot and Greek people, and the loved ones of the victims of Helios Airlines Flight 522'', Bush said.

    ''In this time of national mourning, the Cypriot and Greek people are in the thoughts and prayers of the American people'', he noted.

    We also stand ready to offer assistance that you may seek, the US President concluded.
