    Weather forecast for Cyprus

    Nicosia, Jul 25 (CNA) -- The Meteorological Office at Larnaca International Airport has issued the following weather forecast for Cyprus:

    Ôuesday and Wednesday: 26/07/2005 to 27/07/2005

    The weather will be fine with temporal cloud inland during afternoon. Gentle to moderate sea breezes force 3 to 4 bf will prevail during day time, light catabatic winds will be noted over night. State of sea will be smooth to slight.

    Minimum temperature will range between 18 degrees over the highest mountainous ranges to 22 over the coastal areas and inland. The maximum temperature will range between 30 degrees over the highest mountainous ranges to 30-33 over the coastal areas and 38 to 39 inland.

    Outlook for Thursday and Friday: 28/07/2005 to 29/07/2005

    The weather will be fine. The temperature will note a small increase.

    Sea temperature: 23 west and 26 east C.

    Cyprus expects COREPER to demand signing of protocol

    Nicosia, Jul 25 (CNA) - The Cypriot governments expects today's COREPER session to reiterate the EU's demand that Ankara signs the protocol extending Turkey's customs union with the EU to the ten new member states, Government Spokesman Kypros Chrysostomides said today.

    Cyprus monitoring Turkish army movement

    Nicosia, Jul 25 (CNA) - Cypriot Government Spokesman Kypros Chrysostomides said today that the government was monitoring the moves of the Turkish occupation army to the extent the occupation permits.

    Replying to questions about reports that the Turkish army had begun infrastructure works to construct an aeronautical base in the Turkish occupied Karpass peninsula, Chrysostomides said ''everything is being investigated.''

    Cyprus Police ready for Anorthosis Trabzonspor match

    Nicosia, Jul 25 (CNA) The Cyprus Police is taking unprecedented security measures for tomorrow's Champions League football match between Anorthosis - Trabzonspor, the first match between Cypriot and Turkish teams ever.

    Speaking at a press conference ahead of tomorrow's match, Assistant Chief of the Cyprus Police Iacovos Papacostas, UEFA security officer William Mcdougall and the GSP stadium authorities called on fans, Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots, to attend the game in an orderly manner and not to make any provocative actions.

    Refugee football club Anorthosis, will take on Turkish Trabzonspor for the Champions League second qualifying round. The match will take place at GSP stadium in Nicosia at 20:30 local time.
