Two Cypriots wounded in London blasts

London, Jul 8 (CNA) -- Two Greek Cypriots are among the wounded from yesterday's terrorist attacks in London, which killed 35 and injured 700, a hundred of which are critical, according to the latest official figures.

Fifty-two-year-old Philippos Patsalos, a university professor and researcher at the National Institute of Neurology, and 19-year-old Daniel Kolia, are both in intensive care units at the Royal London hospital.

Cyprus FM investigates whether third G/C was wounded in London attacks

Nicosia, Jul 8 (CNA) -- The Cyprus Foreign Ministry is looking into information that the driver of one of the trains hit by yesterday's explosions in London's metro is of Cypriot origin, Foreign Minister George Iacovou announced, noting that this man had suffered minor injuries.

Referring to the two other Greek Cypriots, permanent residents of London, wounded from yesterday's terrorist attacks in London, fifty-two-year-old Philippos Patsalos, a university professor and researcher at the National Institute of Neurology, and 19-year-old Daniel Kolia, Iacovou said the Foreign Ministry was briefed early last night about these two cases.

Cypriot President signs book of condolences for British victims

Nicosia, Jul 8 (CNA) -- Cypriot President Tassos Papadopoulos signed today the book of condolences, which opened at the British High Commission in Nicosia for the victims of yesterdays bomb attacks in the British capital.

Speaking after signing the book, President Papadopoulos said I convey our sympathy and sincere wishes to the victims and their families over the unacceptable and barbaric attacks that took place in London yesterday.

He added that the people of Cyprus consider the attacks as general attacks against democracy, freedom and the human dignity of all the peoples in the world.

Earlier, House of Representatives President Demetris Christofias signed the book of condolences.

Central Bank Governor: Cyprus key interest rates remain unchanged

Nicosia, Jul 8 (CNA)-- Cyprus Central Bank Governor Christodoulos Christodoulou announced today that the Monetary Policy Committee decided to maintain the key interest rates unchanged at 4,25% for marginal lending facility and at 2,25% for the deposit facility.

Announcing the Committee's decision, Christodoulou said that ''the international and domestic developments have not been changed substantively to dictate an alteration in our key interest rates".

Moscow, Jul 8 (CNA) -- Athens and Nicosia work together for the resumption of negotiations for a Cyprus settlement on the basis of the Annan Plan, taking into consideration that the island is a full EU member, Greek Foreign Minister Petros Molyviatis has said.

Speaking at a press conference today in Moscow, where he is on an official visit, the Greek FM said he thanked his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov for his government's stance as regards the Cyprus issue. ''It is a consistent policy, based on the respect of UN Security Council resolutions'', he added.

Cypriot government and Hermes sign agreement for Airport BOT

Nicosia, Jul 8 (CNA) The Cyprus government signed Friday a multi-million-euro deal with Hermes Consortium Airports to develop and run the islands airports for a period of 25 years.

The build-operate-transfer (BOT) projects for the Larnaca and Paphos airports were signed by Minister of Communications and Works Haris Thrasou and Nicos Shacolas - on behalf of French led Hermes Airports - of the Cyprus Trading Corporation Ltd.
