    Larnaca, Feb 28 (CNA) Cyprus President Tassos Papadopoulos is on a working visit today in Luxembourg, at the invitation of Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker, current president of the European Council.

    Weather forecast for Cyprus

    Nicosia, Feb 28 (CNA) -- The Meteorological Office at Larnaca International Airport has issued the following weather forecast for Cyprus:

    Tuesday and Wednesday: 01/03/2005 to 02/03/2005 ---------------------------------------- The weather on Tuesday and Wednesday will be mainly high cloud, as well as dust in suspension are expected, while relatively warm for the period. Southwesterly to southerly winds will prevail, mainly moderate to fresh but locally up to strong. The state of sea will be generally moderate, but gradually on the windward sites up to rough. Maximum temperature 23-24C inland, 21-22C over the coasts and 16-17C over Prodromos. Minimum temperature 10-12C inland, 12-15C over the coasts and 8-10C over Prodromos. Temperature will note a further rise on Wednesday.

    Outlook for Thursday and Friday: 03/03/2005 to 04/03/2005 ------------------------------- Cloudy at times on Thursday, while local showers are expected. Substantial fall in temperature mainly fine on Friday with no significant change in temperature.

    Nicosia, Feb 28 (CNA) British Labour MPs visiting Cyprus expressed regret here today for the quality of their country's relations with Cyprus, which they have described as ''not good'' at present, adding that they will make an effort to help improve bilateral ties.

    Luxembourg, Feb 28 (CNA) - Luxembourgs Prime Minister and current president of the European Council, Jean Claude Juncker, pledged that there is no way the EU will commence accession negotiations with Turkey if it does not sign the protocol extending its customs union with the ten new member states, including Cyprus.

    He was speaking during a press conference today after talks in Luxembourg with Cypriot President Tassos Papadopoulos

    Answering a question about Turkeys protocol in relation to the country beginning accession negotiations, Juncker said ''there is no way of commencing the negotiations without signing the protocol.''

    EU Presidency warns Turkey to sign Customs Union Protocol

    Luxembourg, Feb 28 (CNA) - Luxembourg's Prime Minister and President of the European Council Jean Claude Juncker has warned Turkey that she will not commence accession negotiations with the European Union she does not sign the protocol adapting her Customs Union to cover all the bloc's new member states.

    Juncker's warning came after a meeting today with Cypriot President Tassos Papadopoulos, who is in Luxemburg for a working visit. In his statements, President Papadopoulos reiterated that the recommencement of negotiations to solve the Cyprus problem has always been the priority of the Cypriot government.

    Luxembourg's Grand Duke accepts invitation to visit Cyprus

    Luxembourg, Feb 28 (CNA) - Luxemburg's Grand Duke has accepted an invitation to visit Cyprus, Cypriot President Tassos Papadopoulos has said.

    President Papadopoulos, in Luxemburg for a working visit, extended the invitation to Grand Duke Henry during a half hour-long hearing he had with him in the Grand Duke's Palace. ''The visit will be settled through the diplomatic route,'' President Papadopoulos said in statements after the meeting.

    The Cypriot President concluded his working visit to Luxembourg and departed by car for Brussels, where he will have separate meetings with European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso, Cypriot Commissioner for Health and Consumer Health Protection Markos Kyprianou and Greek Environment Commissioner Stavros Dimas.

    Nicosia, Feb 28 (CNA) - The European Union budget for the period 2007-2013, the changes to the Stability and Development Pact as well as the efforts to enter the Economic and Monetary Union were at the centre of discussions, which Cypriot Minister of Finance Iacovos Keravnos had in Riga with his Latvian counterpart Oskars Spurdzins.
