    EU efforts to normalise Cyprus - Turkey relations

    Brussels, Feb 2 (CNA) -- The Council of Ministers in cooperation with the European Commission exercise pressure on Turkey to sign the Protocol of the Ankara Agreement and expand the Customs Union with all EU member-states, including Cyprus.

    This effort includes changes in the Turkish law so as to lift the embargo imposed by the Turkish government as regards the anchoring of ships under Cyprus flag in Turkish ports and use of Turkey's FIR by Cypriot aircraft.

    Nicosia, Feb 2 (CNA) -- Over 100 of the most politically active Greek-Americans from across the country and Hellenes from around the world will attend the 15th Annual International Coordinating Committee - Justice for Cyprus (PSEKA)/World Council of Hellenes (SAE) Cyprus Conference to take place in Washington June 15-17, 2005.

    A press release of the National Coordinated Effort of Hellenes said ''conference participants will again be meeting with over 30 key US Senators and Members of Congress who serve on the pertinent committees and subcommittees and others who play a major role in the formulation of US policy toward and aid to Cyprus, Greece and Turkey.''
