    Opposition DISY decides to go ahead with Ankara visit

    Nicosia, Jan 20 (CNA) -- The Political Bureau of Cyprus' opposition rightwing Democratic Rally party unanimously decided on Wednesday to pay a visit to Ankara at the invitation of the Justice and Development Party of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

    First Mobile Mammography Unit begins operating in Cyprus

    Nicosia, Jan 20 (CNA) -- The first Mobile Mammography Unit was launched in Cyprus last night prompting Health Minister Andreas Christou to describe it as a "historic milestone".

    The unit was a donation by Elli Steliou Ioannou to the Europa Donna Cyprus, which granted the unit to the Ministry of Health and under the wings of the Aglantzia Health Centre.

    Weather forecast for Cyprus

    Nicosia, Jan 20 (CNA) -- The Meteorological Office at Larnaca International Airport has issued the following weather forecast for Cyprus:

    Friday and Saturday: 21/01/2005 to 22/01/2005 ------- Unsettled weather conditions, with showers and isolated thunderstorms will affect the island over these two days. Over the mountain tops snowfall is also probable.

    The winds on Friday will be northeasterly to southeasterly, moderate to fresh, 4BF to 5BF. The sea state will be moderate to rough.

    On Saturday the winds will be moderate and at times fresh, 4BF to 5BF and will veer to southwest to west. The sea state will be moderate to rough.

    Temperature will range between 6C and 14C inland, 8C and 16C over the coastal areas and between 2C and 4C over the mountains.

    Outlook for Sunday and Monday: 23/01/2005 to 24/01/2005 ------- The weather on Sunday and Monday will be partly cloudy with temporal rain. The temperature is not expected to change significantly, though a slight increase is expected.

    Nicosia, Jan 20 (CNA) -- Nicos Anastasiades, president of the main opposition Democratic Rally party (DISY), will head a delegation to Turkey, following an invitation by the ruling party of Justice and Development (AKP) of prime minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

    Describing the visit as useful, Anastasiades said "the party delegation will be made up by Executive Bureau members and will be decided once we have the programme of contacts''.
