    CNA wishes its subscribers and associates Merry Christmas.

    Instead of sending cards, the Agency will make a donation to the Pancyprian Association for children with cancer or other related life threatening diseases ''Make a Wish''.

    CNA will operate tomorrow, Friday, 24 December, from 09.00 to 14.00 hours and will be closed on Christmas day and on Sunday, 26 December.

    Weather forecast for Cyprus

    Nicosia, Dec 23 (CNA) -- The Meteorological Office at Larnaca International Airport has issued the following weather forecast for Cyprus:

    Friday and Saturday: 24/12/2004 to 25/12/2004 -------------------- Friday: Mainly cloudy with showers and isolated thunderstorms. NE'ly to SE'ly moderate breezes 4BF, but at the north and west coasts NW'ly moderate breezes 4BF will prevail. The sea state will be moderate.

    Saturday: The weather on Christmas day will gradually become mainly fine, though early in the morning local showers are probable. Moderate to fresh NE'ly to SE'ly winds, 4BF to 5BF will predominate and the sea state will be moderate and locally on the windward coasts up to rough.

    Outlook for Sunday and Monday: 26/12/2004 to 27/12/2004 ----------------------------- On Sunday and Monday the weather will be mainly fine with a significant temperature increase.

    Cyprus: August 2004 Foreign Trade Statistics

    Nicosia, Dec 23 (CNA) -- Total imports/arrivals in January-August 2004 amounted to 1.765,5 million Cyprus pounds as compared to 1.508,3 m. pounds in January-August 2003, Cyprus Statistical Service said in its monthly report ''Intra-Extra EU Trade Statistics (Summarised Data) for August 2004. (One Cyprus pound = aprox. two US dollars).

    Total exports/dispatches (covering total exports to third countries and dispatches to other member states) in January-August 2004 were 326,5 m. pounds compared to 326,1 m. pounds in January-August 2003.

    Cyprus youth call on international community to launch new Cyprus initiative

    Nicosia, Dec 23 (CNA) -- Cyprus National Preparatory Committee (NPC) on the 16th World Festival of Youth and Student (WFYS), that will take place in Venezuela in 2005, has called upon the international community, particularly the UN and the EU, to undertake as soon as possible, a new initiative concerning the Cyprus problem.

    In a declaration the Committee said through this initiative ways and means must be sought ''in order to safeguard the legitimate concerns of the Greek Cypriot community in the Annan plan, without reopening the whole plan for negotiations, which remains the base to achieve a comprehensive solution to the Cyprus problem.''

    Nicosia, Dec 23 (CNA) -- Cypriot President Tassos Papadopoulos expressed his wish that 2005 will be a year of reunification of Cyprus adding that the decisions taken during this year by the people have formed the frame of how the political cause will continue.
