New York, Sep 26 (CNA) Cyprus President Tassos Papadopoulos congratulated Cypriot swimmer Karolina Pelendritou, who won the gold medal in the Women's 100m Breaststroke - SB13 yesterday at the Athens 2004 Paralympic Games.

Cyprus President outlines commitment to federal solution

New York, Sep 26 (CNA) Cyprus President Tassos Papadopoulos outlined the Greek Cypriot sides commitment and dedication to a bizonal, bicommunal federal solution that would bring about the islands reunification.

Addressing a gathering at the New York University, organised by the Cyprus Federation of America in memory of Major General Tassos Markou and all those missing since the 1974 Turkish invasion, President Papadopoulos said that voting no, during the April referenda on the UN Secretary-Generals plan for a comprehensive settlement to the Cyprus problem, the people did not reject a solution to the Cyprus problem or are against the reunification of our homeland.
