    Weather forecast for Cyprus

    Nicosia, Jun 28 (CNA) -- The Meteorological Office at Larnaca International Airport has issued the following weather forecast for Cyprus:

    Tuesday and Wednesday: 29/6/2004 to 30/6/2004 ---------------------- Mainly fine weather is expected, with local mist overnight. Gentle northeasterly to southwesterly winds will be blowing during the morning, with gentle to moderate southeasterly to southwesterly winds prevailing in the afternoon.

    Generally gentle southwesterly to westerly winds are expected over the west. Light to gentle katabatic winds will prevail overnight. The state of sea will be generally up to slight.

    Maximum temperature 38 to 38 C inland, 32 to 33 C over the south and east coasts, 28 to 29 C over the west coast and 25 to 26 C over Prodromos.

    Minimum temperature 22 to 23 C inland, 20 to 21 over the coast and 17 to 18 over Prodromos.

    Outlook for Thursday and Friday: 01/7/2004 to 02/7/2004 ----------------------- No significant change in the weather is expected. Maximum temperature is expected to rise.

    Cypriot President flies to Brussels for European Council

    Nicosia, Jun 28 (CNA) - Cypriot President Tassos Papadopoulos leaves tomorrow morning for Brussels to participate in the extraordinary European Council, convened by the EU Irish Presidency.

    Announcing the trip, Government Spokesman Kypros Chrysostomides said the election of a new European Commission President was on the agenda of the European Council.

    Nicosia, Jun 28 (CNA) - Cyprus Government Spokesman Kypros Chrysostomides said today that the Olympic Flame would be passing through the areas of Cyprus currently under Turkish occupation, if the occupation regime agreed to avoid exploiting the event politically.
