    Turkish Cypriot leader to meet FM's including Russian FM

    Istanbul, Jun 16 (CNA) -- Leader of the Turkish Republic Party and self-styled prime minister of the regime in occupied Cyprus Mehmet Ali Talat is scheduled to have a series of meetings here today with heads of delegations to the 31st meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC), which ends today.

    Serdar Denktash, leader of the Turkish Cypriot Democratic Party and so-called foreign minister, confirmed to CNA today that there would be many contacts between Talat and Foreign Ministers and other officials, in which Serdar Denktash will be present.

    Denktash refused to give any further information about meetings scheduled for today but he said that Talat would be seeing Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, whose country has applied to join the OIC as an observer.

    The Russian General Consulate here has confirmed that Lavrov would be having several meetings today, before he leaves Istanbul later in the day.

    Greek Cypriot side ready to renegotiate, Cyprus President says

    Larnaca, Jun 16 (CNA) -- Cyprus President Tassos Papadopoulos has said the Greek Cypriot side is ready to renegotiate the UN peace plan for Cyprus, adding that ''the changes we want are not only external ones, to meet the concerns of the Greek Cypriots, but also changes in the conditions and the provisions of the plan.''

    Speaking to the press prior to his departure for Brussels, where he will take part in the European Council to be held June 17-18, President Papadopoulos said also that a change of the name of the Turkish Cypriot regime at the Islamic Conference Organisation and the use of the name given to it in the UN Secretary General Kofi Annan's settlement plan for Cyprus (Turkish Cypriot state) is ''of course something that has its own importance.''

    Istanbul, Jun 16 (CNA) -- Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Maher El Sayed has said his country supported a united Cyprus, a position he added that was backed by Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC), which concluded its 31st ministerial meeting here today.

    Speaking to CNA, he said also said that this view did not mean that part of the population of a united Cyprus should be ostracized.

    Stella Misiaouli replaces MEP Adamou at Cyprus House

    Nicosia, Jun 16 (CNA) -- Stella Misiaouli is the new member of the House of Representatives, in replacement of deputy Adamos Adamou (AKEL left - wing party), who was elected as one of the six Cypriot Members of European Parliament, Minister of Interior Andreas Christou announced today.

    An issue came up regarding Adamou's replacement, since it was not clear, whether Misiaouli or Pambos Kiritsis (General Secretary of PEO Trade Union) would take the seat at the House of Representatives.
