Opposition leader says he has clear conscience over historic ''yes''

Nicosia, Apr 16 (CNA) Opposition rightwing Democratric Rally party (DISY) leader Nicos Anastasiadis expressed the hope that his party's ''yes'' to the Annan plan as decided tonight to be able to change the results of the 24 April referendum.

Speaking after the voting at the party's congress where 77,6% of the delegates voted in favour of a ''yes'', Anastasiadis added that his conscience is clear that as a responsible party ''we took a historic decision''.

He also expressed the hope that the other political parties of the island will reconsider their decisions, and that the citizens would realize the importance of the strong messages for the ''no'' consequences.

"I hope that those who shout, and rightly so, because they feel that there is an injustice, either because they dont know the provisions of the plan, either because they act emotionally in a manner that does not allow them to accept other views will not condemn those who dragged them to say 'no''', Anastasiades noted.
