    London, Jan 15 (CNA) -- British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw has appealed to all sides involved in the question of Cyprus to work for a settlement on the basis of a UN peace proposal.

    Nicosia, Jan 15 (CNA) - The Meteorological Office at Larnaca International Airport has issued the following weather forecast for Cyprus:

    Friday and Saturday: 16/01/2004 to 17/01/2004 --------------------

    On Friday, the weather will be partly cloudy to cloudy with local light rain. The wind will be southwest moderate, 3 to 4 BF and locally in the afternoon, 5 BF. The state of sea will be slight to moderate.

    The temperature will range between 9 to 17 C inland, 11 to 9 over the coast and between 4 to 8 C over Prodromos area.

    Some local rain is expected during Saturday morning. The temperature will note a small decrease.

    Outlook for Sunday and Monday: 18/01/2004 to 19/01/2004 ------------------------------ Mainly fine with variable amount of high cloud. No change in temperature.

    Nicosia, Jan 15 (CNA) -- Germany's special envoy for Cyprus Peter Wittig has said in December 2004 EU member states are going to decide whether Turkey has fulfilled the Copenhagen criteria in order to start accession talks and that this ''is the only game that is being played'', adding that ''Cyprus is part of the whole context''.
