    Weather forecast for Cyprus

    Nicosia, Sep 4 (CNA) -- The Meteorological Office at Larnaca International Airport has issued the following weather forecast for Cyprus:

    Friday and Saturday: 05/09/2003 to 06/09/2003

    Local showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected at times on Friday, but sunny intervals as well. Southwesterly to westerly moderate to fresh winds will prevail, but locally strong over south in the afternoon. The state of sea will be generally moderate and temporarily up to rough in the afternoon. Maximum temperature is expected around 32C inland, 30C over the south and east coast, 29C over the west coast and 23C over Prodroms. Minimum temperature is expected around 20C inland, 23 C over the coasts and 18C over Prodromos.

    On Saturday the weather is expected to be mainly fine with local cloud. Southwesterly to northwesterly moderate and locally fresh winds will prevail and the state of sea will be generally moderate. Temperature will generally note a small fall.

    Outlook for Sunday and Monday: 07/09/2003 to 08/09/2003

    The weather is expected to be mainly fine, with temporal cloud in the afternoon. A gradual increase in temperature is expected.

    Nicosia, Sep 4 (CNA) The permanent representatives at the Council of Europe's Committee of Ministers should decide whether they accept Turkeys delaying tactics regarding payment of compensation it owes to Greek Cypriot Titina Loizidou in a case of human rights violation, said here Thursday Government Spokesman Kypros Chrysostomides.

    Brussels, Sep 4 (CNA) The Italian presidency of the European Union will investigate the refusal of the illegal regime in the Turkish occupied north of Cyprus to allow the operation of schools in the occupied village of Rizokarpaso.

    Larnaca, Sep 4 (CNA) Cyprus Foreign Minister Georgios Iacovou said there will be a chance in the first three months of 2004 to resume negotiations for a Cyprus settlement, noting that if negotiations do not produce result it is very possible that efforts will move after Cyprus accession to the EU.
