Memorials for Makarios III held across Cyprus
Nicosia, Aug 3 (CNA) - Memorials for Archbishop and first President of
the Republic of Cyprus Makarios III, marking the 26th anniversary of
his death, were held in all churches across the government-controlled
areas of the Republic today.
The official memorial service was held at Kykkos Monastery, in the
presence of President of the Republic Tassos Papadopoulos, President of
the House of Representatives Demetris Christofias, Greece's Ambassador
to Cyprus Christos Panagopoulos, leaders or representatives of
political parties, officials and relatives of Makarios III.
