Representatives from the EU Commission's DG Environment said that after the enlargement, 13 new bird species will enrich the EU's environment, seven of them being in Cyprus. In his opening remarks at the seminar Italian Ambassador Gerardo la Francesca noted that the environment and its protection have no borders and stressed that both communities in Cyprus should work jointly to achieve the best results for the environment of the island.
