Papadopoulos addresses EU-Russia summit

Saint Petersburg, May 31 (CNA) -- Cyprus will contribute to the effort to enhance relations between the European Union and Russia in its capacity as acceding country and later a full EU member, President Tassos Papadopoulos said here today in his address to the EU-Russia Summit that opened this morning in St. Petersburg.

He referred to the excellent relations between Russia and Cyprus, and said that EU enlargement offers an opportunity and a commitment to maximize mutual benefits for both Russia and the EU.

Bicommunal debate agrees on need for solution

Nicosia, May 31 (CNA) -- A political debate on the Cyprus question has heard comments from politicians and civil society representatives about the need to find a negotiated settlement but listened to different perspectives and approaches as to how to go about achieving this goal.
