    Anastasiades leads election race for Democratic Rally party

    Nicosia, Ìay 25 (CNA) -- Current President of the rightwing Democratic Rally party Nicos Anastasiades leads the race in the party's election.

    In three counting centres abroad, Athens, Thessaloniki and London, and in one in Cyprus, in Larnaca district, Anastasiades received most of the votes.

    In Athens, only 137 out of 800 registered DISY members voted. Anastasiades garnered 96 votes and former Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides 40 votes. There was one invalid vote.

    In Thessaloniki, northern Greece, only 93 mebers voted out of a total of 275 registered mebers. Anastasiades secured 54 votes and Kasoulides 39.

    In London, out of a total of 605 registered members only 168 members voted. Anastasiades received 96 øÞöïõò and Kasoulides 71.

    Larnaca is the first district in Cyprus to give results. Out of a total of 3,354 registered members only 2,103 voted. There were 2,089 valid votes. Anastasiades garnered 1,226 votes securing 60 per cent and Kasoulides 863 votes representing 40 per cent of the votes.

    In Nicosia district, out of a total of 11,703 registered DISY members only 6,540 members voted.

    In Limassol district, out of a total of 6.741 registered members only 4.171 voted.

    In the government-controlled areas of Famagusta district out of a total of 4,091 registered members only 2.606 voted.

    Nicosia, Ìay 25 (CNA) -- Nicos Anastasides is winning his reelection here tonight as President of Cyprus' Democratic Rally party as counting of the votes continues for the party's new leadership elections.

    Former Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides, who also run for president, has already admitted his electoral defeat.

    Nicosia, Ìay 25 (CNA) Nicos Anastasiades was reelected here tonight President of the Democratic Rally party, securing 55.05 percent of the vote over former Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides, who got 44.95 percent.
