    Nicosia, Mar 24 (CNA) -- A British Bases spokesman denied press reports that dead soldiers were transferred from the Gulf area to Akrotiri Base in southern Cyprus.

    Nicosia, Mar 24 (CNA) -- The Meteorological Office at Larnaca International Airport has issued the following weather forecast for Cyprus:

    Friday and Saturday: 25/03/2003 to 26/03/2003

    On Tuesday, partly cloudy with local showers or isolated thunderstorms and snow over mountains. Winds northwesterly to northeasterly light to moderate and the state of sea slight to moderate.

    Maximum temperature: 13C inland and around 16C over coastal areas. Minimum temperature: 4C inland and around 7C over coastal areas.

    On Wednesday, fine with local cloud. Wind light to moderate northwesterly and the state of sea slight to moderate.

    Maximum temperature:17C inland and around 19C over coastal areas. Minimum temperature: 6C inland and around 9C over coastal areas.

    Outlook for Sunday and Monday: 27/03/2003 to 28/03/2003

    Mainly fine. Risk of isol showers over mountains in the afternoon. Small decrease in temperature is expected.

    1550:CYPPRESS:06 Spokesman says no change of Turkish policy on Cyprus at present Nicosia, Mar 24 (CNA) Government Spokesman Kypros Chrisostomides said here Monday that at present Ankaras policy has not changed from that of Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash.

    He said that Turkey seems to have expressed a different approach but this does not mean a fundamental change in the Turkish policy.

    1630:CYPPRESS:07 President Papadopoulos returns from US Larnaca, Mar 24 (CNA) Cyprus President Tassos Papadopoulos returned to Cyprus after a week-long stay in the US for medical tests.

    The President did not make any statements on his return. Government Spokesman Kypros Chrisostomides said the president successfully completed his annual medical tests.

    2010:CYPPRESS:08 Annan remains at disposal of two sides in Cyprus, says Beglitis Nicosia, Mar 24 (CNA) UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan has assured Greek Foreign Minister George Papandreou that he remains at the disposal of the two sides in Cyprus to offer his mission of good offices.

    Greek Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Panagiotis Beglitis said that during their telephone conversation, Papandreou and Annan had mentioned that the crisis in Iraq has downgraded the procedure to solve the Cyprus problem.
