    Nicosia, Mar 6 (CNA) -- Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots have been queuing up patiently since early morning to give blood samples in an effort to find a donor for a bone marrow transplant for a five-year-old Turkish Cypriot girl.

    Nicosia, Mar 6 (CNA) -- Greek Foreign Minister George Papandreou will be in The Hague on Monday for a meeting with UN Secretary General Kofi Annan on Cyprus and Iraq.

    Greek Foreign Ministry spokesman Panos Beglitis explained today in Athens that Papandreou's presence is not connected with the level of representation of the two other Cyprus' guarantor powers (Turkey and Britain) in The Hague.

    Nicosia, Mar 6 (CNA) - The Meteorological Office at Larnaca International Airport has issued the following weather forecast for Cyprus:

    On Friday (March 7) and Saturday (March 8), the weather will be mostly fine with occassional cloud. Winds will be moderate southwesterly and the sea slight to moderate. Temperatures will range from 5 to 17 inland and from 8 to 19 on the coast.

    On Sunday (March 9) and Monday (March 10), the weather will be unsettled with rain and perhaps thunderstorms. The winds will be fresh southwesterly and the sea moderate. Temperatures unchanged

    Athens, Mar 6 (CNA) -- The Greek Cypriot side will be in The Hague on Monday at the invitation of UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, not to give a yes or no answer to whether or not the two sides in Cyprus would put his third peace plan to separate referenda on March 30 but to discuss the issue, Greek Prime Minister Costas Simitis said today, after a three-hour meeting in Athens with Cypriot President Tassos Papadopoulos.

    He added that Annan called him last night to point out the necessity of the presence in The Hague of all interested parties, namely the two sides in Cyprus, Greece, Turkey and Britain, in such a way that would allow for decisions to be taken.

    Simitis, with whom Papadopoulos agreed, said that it was up to the people of Cyprus to take decisions on its future and noted that during their meeting today, they reached common conclusions regarding further handling of the national problem.

    Possible economic consequences from Iraqi war are reversible, says Kyprianou

    Nicosia, Mar 6 (CNA) Any possible consequences to the Cyprus economy from a war in Iraq are reversible, it was expressed here Thursday during a meeting of the Finance, Commerce, Industry and Tourism, Labour and Social Insurance and Communications and Works ministers.

    An initial exchange of views was carried out without taking any decisions and it was agreed to exchange written suggestions in the next couple of days and to hold another ministers meeting on 12 March where final decisions will be taken.

    Finance Minister, Markos Kyprianou, who convened the meeting, said the package of measures will cover the economy sector and will be announced as soon as it is ready.

    Politicians say blood donation for T/C girl brings communities closer

    Nicosia, Mar 6 (CNA) Politics did not prevent Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots from coming forward in numbers at the Ledra Palace Hotel in the UN-controlled buffer zone to donate blood samples in an effort to find a donor for a bone marrow transplant for a five-year-old Turkish Cypriot girl.

    A total of 500 samples were taken on Thursday, the first day of a five-day effort to find a matching donor.

    Among those who donated blood samples were the Head of the European Commission delegation to Cyprus, Adrian van der Meer, Turkish Cypriot United Cyprus party General Secretary Izzet Izcan and Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktashs daughters, Ender and Deker.
