Greek Foreign Minister George Papandreou announced the development during a press conference called by Prime Minister Costas Simitis to announce the Brussels European Council's decision on the bloc's Rapid Reaction Force. Papandreou said ''Greece and Turkey, in cooperation with the Cyprus government, agreed to postpone all exercises for now, within the framework of efforts to consolidate a climate of trust and peace in southeast Mediterranean''. CNA has learned that Turkey informed Greece today that it agrees with the postponement of its military exercise ''Taurus'' and then Papandreou telephoned Cypriot Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides in Nicosia where he received the approval of the Cyprus government.
